Large format book 4to with 16 color plates. The book is in fair+ to good-minus condition (for a 100-year-old children's book!). The covers are rubbed along the edges and corners, brown cloth spine cover is cracked in a few spots and a bit worn. Interior pictorial end papers have some gluing ripples and general age, with some pencil erasures. Some of the pages are starting to loosen especially at the bottom gutter. Some of the plates have some chipping along the fore - or bottom edges with loss to the black borders. Text pages are a bit toned and one page has incipient cracks near the gutter. Binding is shaken but holding. This is a very scarce Aldin title about a family of rabbits and their friends and adventures. It is a large format book measuring 10" x 11.5", with hard paper covers and a cloth spine. The brilliantly graphic plates are on heavy stock with black borders around each one. There are also numerous text illustrations in black and white. ; Color Illustrations; 4to 11" - 13" tall

Book itself has red cloth covers which are clean, interior has the number "30" in small, neat green ink on first blank, otherwise clean and fresh. Another wonderful children's book from the author of The Enormous Egg -- our young hero travels to France to help an archeologist and discovers a deep cave with prehistoric drawings...and a very strange old man. 47 pp. 12 colour plates. A nice copy of this charming collaboration. Each entry is a verse from Punch Magazine with an accompanying color plate by Aldin. There are also a number of black and white illustrations in the text. Condition is good. Original brown cloth over beveled boards, show a bit of wear, some rubbing and moderate grubbiness but quite respectable. Interior has an old owner name in pencil, some foxing especially near the end papers, otherwise clean and unmarked. ; 47 pages

Interior front end paper has remains of old church library label, , title page and plate quite foxed, foxing and age throughout, stitching showing and binding a bit fragile but holding, corner of one page torn off at bottom edge not affecting text. Aged but still a charming Sunday School story, very Victorian.; 16mo - over 5" - 6" tall

The true first edition, published the year before the American edition, in hardcover with the original dust jacket. The DJ has a short clean tear at the front cover, some rubbing at extremities, protected in Mylar. Front flap has been price clipped. Book itself is clean and unmarked, interior clean and unmarked. This is the true first edition of Helen Griffiths wonderful story about "La Bruja", the horse born on the South American pampa, a cross between a thoroughbred and a wild pony. While she was still a foal her mother was killed by lightning and La Bruja learnt early to fight for her existence and grew into a fierce, independent creature whose mixed parentage bequeathed her a strangely ugly face but wonderful fleetness of foot. In time, she became a legend among the gauchos, coveted for her speed, conspicuous for her ugliness, but cunning in her ways, and those who attempted to capture her had to fight against a deep hatred of man and her experience of their cruelty. ; B&W Illustrations; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 192 pages

no date but circa late 30s. 125 pp, illustrated throughout from end paper to end paper. Plate at frontis. Cream cloth covers with two blue bunnies are quite grubby, spine darkened. Interior gift inscription dated 1941, hinges just starting, page 17 has a price sticker mark right in the middle of the illustration, page 119 (the Tiddley and Wink page on Prohibition) has a small hole at the bottom margin, otherwise clean if definitely read. A peculiar little book using animals and amusing drawings and theoretically for children, but the section on getting drunk in the Prohibition section seems entirely unsuitable for tots! But a charming book for grown ups who like wink and nod 20th century humor. ; 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall
